Biography

Lorenza Panero is a Colombian-American interdisciplinary visual artist exploring the relationship between humans and their environments. Her work is emotional, focused on fleeting moments and experiences that are sensed rather than seen, and emphasizing the desire for sanctuary. Her evocative landscapes blur the line between realism and abstraction.

A prolific artist, her practice is enriched by investigation of oral traditions and the written word, and narratives that have survived throughout history. The volatility of translation and meanings in flux resonate in the artist's installations and imagery. In both spatial and two-dimensional works Panero suggests worlds of emotional reality that explore potential futures of the natural and built environments. Her imagery resonates with deep feeling that encourages a reflection on the self.

Panero's work is multi-layered and complex, using combined imageries to create intimate landscapes and spiritual geographies that challenge our perceptions of reality. Her work is held in high esteem in private and public art collections, and she divides her time between her studios in Bogota and New York.
